Parking lot dings  |  Thrown rocks  |   Hail

Repairing dents of any size is a quick and easy way to boost the value of a car. It’s like giving your vehicle a face lift.  Most body shops can fix dents ranging in size from small to large and it is estimated that this repair increases the value of a car up to $1,000. While the mechanical functions of a car should be the priority, most people buy a used vehicle based on its appearance and assumed maintenance. A car should always have dents of any size repaired before selling.  When it comes to buying a used vehicle, buyers often do judge a book by its cover.

How Repairing Dents Increases Value
It’s well known that small touches can help a car sell for more. Cleaning wheels and interior, fixing burnt out lights and waxing a car improve the appearance and the value for very little money. Dent repair is similar; it is a small investment that can yield a big return. A good body shop can use a technique known as paintless dent repair (PDR) to fix dings without the need to repaint. This is one of the best investments to make.

How the Technique Works
Paintless repair of dents is a technique that can repair depressions in the metal. A technician at a body shop uses special tools to manipulate the metal back into its original form from behind the dent, causing no damage to the paint. The panel is accessed by removing trim pieces or through inner panels. This technique can only be performed by a trained technician and requires experience. The dent is removed by working from the outside edges in, slowly decreasing the size until it becomes so small it blends in with the paint texture.

What Dent Repair Can Fix
Typically, dent repair by a professional can fix virtually any dent from very large to small. The paintless technique works best on 1990 and newer car models because of the type of paint and frame used. This technique is only recommended for dents if the paint is not cracked or broken as well. Lastly, the dent must not be near the edge of a panel and the area must not have any previous body repair work that has changed the integrity of the panel.

Advantages of Fixing Dents
There are many advantages to repairing dents in a vehicle. There is no repainting or filler needed, which removes the chance of paint overspray on other areas of the vehicle. It maintains the value of your vehicle. This also eliminates the need to match paint colors and allows the vehicle to retain its original paint. Vehicles with original paint have a better resale value or trade- in value than repainted vehicles. Repairing dents with the paintless technique is also much more affordable than traditional body work.

This technique is the number one way to increase or maintain a car’s value because it raises the value a great deal for a small investment. Dents of all sizes can be repaired with this technique and the cost is minimal.   Although the process can’t remove all dents, it’s the best way to maintain the integrity and original color of a vehicle while making it as attractive as possible for resale.

Stop by our Collision Center anytime for a free estimate.  Ballas offers a lifetime guarantee on our body work.  We’ll create a written estimate of what’s recommended to complete the repair, and we will offer Genuine GM Parts. In addition, if there is other service work that is required to restore your vehicle to pre-accident condition, we have Certified Service technicians on hand. We will review this estimate with you and address any questions you may have.

Toledo auto dealer, Ballas Buick GMC has six (6) vehicle with the top honors from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.  Ballas isn’t surprised to learn the GMC Acadia is on the list.  In the large SUV category there were only 4 vehicles.  Two of the four are available her at Ballas Buick GMC:  the Buick Enclave and the GMC Acadia.  The GMC Acadia is available for you to test drive and get great information from our Buick & GMC Product Specialists

Insurance Institute For Highway Safety announced their Top Safety Picks 2012. Six (6) of our vehicles made the list. We’re not surprised. To determine crashworthiness, the Institute rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal, or poor based on performance in high-speed front and side crash tests, a rollover test, plus evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. To earn Top Safety Pick for 2012 a vehicle must have good ratings in all four Institute tests.

Acadia safety and crash-avoidance features
The Acadia has 360-degree safety system that helps protect passengers before, during and after a crash, including anchor pretensioners for outboard occupants and pelvic-thorax seat-mounted side air bags. The structure is reinforced in numerous areas with high-strength steel, including a stiff steel cross-car beam welded across the floor between the B-pillars. It also uses dual-phase steel in select areas, such as the lower engine compartment rails. Dual-phase steel is strengthened in the paint oven and offers easier formability, reduced mass, greater strength and better crash energy absorption than most high-strength steels.

  • Standard head curtain side air bags with rollover protection for all seating rows. The roof-mounted head curtain air bags include design features that provide increased rollover protection and occupant containment. These head curtain side air bags stay inflated longer than air bags developed only for side impacts, since rollover incidents can last longer. The deployment duration and other design features of the air bags combine to provide increased occupant protection and the ability to help keep occupants inside the vehicle.
  • StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology is standard on all models and incorporates full-function traction control.
  • Available rearview camera system designed to provide the driver with
a view of people or objects in the rearward path of the vehicle.
  • Standard four-wheel-disc brake system with ABS featuring smooth, quiet operation, longer pad life and more resistance to brake pulsation.
  • Pretensioners minimize forward movement during a collision, and are standard on the front safety belts. Load-limiting retractors cinch the belt more tightly.
  • LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) child seat attachment system, which is included in all second-row seating positions.
  • Tire pressure monitoring system, standard on all models.
  • Standard remote keyless entry system provides a second function for the red panic button. Drivers can use it to locate their vehicle without sounding the panic alarm.
  • Strong body structure to absorb crash energy and provide a protective “safety cage” around occupants.

Toledo, OH Tests Drives the Buick Verano at Ballas Buick GMC

Upon its arrival at Ballas Buick GMC, employees took the all new Buick Verano on test drives.  We are impressed.  Located in Toledo, OH; Ballas Buick GMC is the first dealership in our area to premiere the all new Verano.

Inside are sporty bucket seats up front, and a three-person bench in the rear. That bench seat folds down for more room in the truck or perhaps a comfortable spot of Spot to ride along in the Verano with you.  The Verano has cabin features that are plush, with soft-touch materials and premium leather.

Once you are on the road it is obvious how superior the sound deadening elements are in the Verano.  The car was designed to be quiet inside, even at highway speeds, thanks to acoustical laminated glass, triple door seals, “refined chassis dynamics” and 17-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels that have been made to minimize road noise.

Also helping to provide a quiet ride are a five-layer headliner with acoustical fiber, nylon baffles with insulating foam in hollow areas of the body, and recycled denim insulating material between the rear-body structural components.

Among convenience features are a next-generation radio, touch-screen navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and even an optional heated steering wheel.

The heated steering wheel and seats are activated automatically by the remote-start feature when temperatures are lower than 45 degrees.

Speed-sensitive electric power steering is standard, and the car has MacPherson struts in the front to make the drive smoother over potholes and bumps.

IntelliLink uses Bluetooth or USB to connect the driver’s smartphone to the vehicle’s new seven- or eight-inch, high-resolution, full-color touch screen display radio. IntelliLink expands on the current Bluetooth and USB capabilities to allow smartphone control via voice activation and steering wheel-mounted controls, and streaming stereo audio from the phone through services like PANDORA® internet radio and Stitcher SmartRadio®. Most importantly, IntelliLink enables seamless integration of stowed portable devices with the vehicle’s infotainment system, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

Test drive one at Ballas.  We enjoyed the ride and we KNOW you will too.  You can reach us at www.ballasbuickgmc.com, by clicking here or by picking up the phone and calling 419.535.1000.
